Young football talents released by Isonga Football Academy every year in Football. From 2020, Isonga went to other 7 Sports displines ( BasketBall, Volley Ball, Athletism,Cycling, Handball, NPC and Tennis)

The Ministry of Sports directs efforts towards identifying sports talent within the country, and later nurturing and developing it to a point where  it is more resourceful at a national level. 

The Ministry also 

  • Elaborates programs and guidelines regarding detection of young talented people
  • Developes the program regarding capacity building for technical staff involved in talent detection
  • Promotes research in sports development
  • Establishes a system of collaboration between MINISPORTS and other stakeholders for better talent detection
  • Established a  database of monitoring and evaluation regarding talent detection.

The Government recognizes the role and importance of Physical Education and Sport (PES) to develop critical thinking and to promote the above-mentioned values. The Education Sector Strategic Plan (ESSP 2013/14-2017/18) recommends that all school improvement plans and evaluation programs have to include provision for physical education in schools because sport and physical activities contribute to the overall development of the child

Key highlights and targets: 

  • In 2020, 65 Centers of Excellence established in schools countrywide are producing young talented in different disciplines and the targets for 2030 will be at least 990
  • Isonga Football Academy established in 2010 trains 25 young footballers every year and the target are to accommodate all discipline and trains at least 3000 every year
  • Young Rwandan basketball players and coaches have benefited from the Giants of Africa camp 
  • In 2019, Rwanda entered a partnership with PSG Football team with talent development among the key priorities. 
  • In 2018, Arsenal team has trained over 50 u15 young Rwanda footballers and Coaches as part of existing Rwanda-Arsenal Team parternship. 
  • The Africa Rising Cycling Center (ARCC) in Musanze district has supported Rwanda's ambition to become a hub for African cycling growth
