The Ministry in Partnership to Sports federations organise Sports Competitions to determine the best athletes and teams and greatest achievements in sports, to improve athletic skills, and to popularize physical culture and sports. Sports competitions provide an opportunity to evaluate objective of the sports organizations, coaches, athletes, and officials.

The Government of Rwanda is actively committed to providing a holistic education for all concerned key players in sports that aims to transform the Rwandan citizen in a human capital with the capacity to contribute to socioeconomic development of the country apart from that all competitions required the GR is committed to organize them to have the best athletes in Africa and even in world. There for three programs have been putted in place: Youth competition in all disciplines

Federation Rwandaise de Basketball in partnership with Bank of Kigali, organize the national basketball league also known as BK league` The National Basketball League is the top professional basketball league in Rwanda.[1] Its season usually runs from November to September. The winners of the NBL season qualify for the qualifiers for the Basketball Africa League (BAL). More than 14 teams participate in this league.
From 2005, the Rwanda Athletics Federation in partnership with Ministry of Sports organize the Kigali International Peace Marathon (KIPM). This annual event was first held in 2005 and has since been organized under the patronage of His Excellence Paul KAGAME, President of the Republic of Rwanda.
The Rwanda Premier League is the highest division of football in Rwanda. The league was formed in 1975. It was known as the Primus National Football League in 2004 and from 2009–10 to 2012–13, after which sponsorship was taken over by Turbo King. The league was renamed the Azam Rwanda Premier League for the 2015–16 season after Tanzanian television broadcasters Azam TV were announced as sponsors in a deal worth US$ 2.35 million covering a period of five years. From 2019/2020 season AZAM TV announced termination of their contract with Rwanda FA.
