The Ministry of Sports establishes standards for the maintenance and management of sports infrastructure, equipment and monitor their application.

The Ministry also

  • Elaborates model plans of sports and leisure infrastructures to facilitate their installation in various regions of the country;
  • Identifies the needs in sports materials and equipment;
  • Elaborates and propose plans for the installation of sports and leisure infrastructure
  • Facilitates the practice of mass sports for various categories of the population;
  • Monitors and reports on sports infrastructure construction works activities;
  • Establishes guidelines for the development of attractive activities in the sports infrastructure facilities to motivate people to use them;
  • Promotes local and International investment in sports infrastructures
  • Elaborates the map of sports infrastructure with in the country.

Key Highlights: 

  • Rwanda counts 7 International Stadiums (Amahoro, Regional, Huye , Ngoma, Bugesera, Nyagatare and Rubavu)
  • Amahoro National Stadium host 30,000, it is the largest stadium in Rwanda and hosts football matches, concerts, and public events. Bugesera, Ngoma and Nyagatare were recently built as part of governemt pledge to increase sports facility.
  • Kigali Arena is a 10,000 capacity indoor arena which is intended for indoor sports such as basketball, volleyball, tennis and other indoor games as well as concerts and conferences
  • The Africa Rising Cycling Center (ARCC)  in Musanze is a cycling  education. It  serve as a hub for African cycling growth
